The King of Peace

Here is a brief post that I started to write about a decade ago, but then never published.

This passage suddenly seems appropriate:

"I have a baptism to be baptized with; and how I am constrained until it is accomplished! Do you think that I have come to give peace on earth? No, I tell you, but rather division; for henceforth in one house there will be five divided, three against two and two against three; they will be divided, father against son and son against father, mother against daughter and daughter against her mother, mother-in-law against her daughter-in-law and daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law” (Luke 12:50-53).

So it is in every age, but it is more strongly felt in times when a) our opinions are on display or all too see, all the time and b) when one part of the culture is turning deliberately, even violently away from Christ whilst demanding that the other part do the same.

It remains appropriate today.
